The Gold coast sits on the eastern coast of Australia in the Queensland State. It is an area which is thriving economically, primarily due to its thriving tourist industry attracting close to 4 million visitors every year. The city and region is defined by its diversity, from large stretches of isolated beaches, to the busy populated Skyline beaches of Surfers Paradise to lush rainforests in Lamington and Spring brook National Park. It is a great holiday destination with a guaranteed 300 days of sunshine annually; it makes a refreshing break from the Irish weather.

It is a destination, covering over 1300km2 and the sixth most populous city in Australia. The city and region are hugely popular as the region is known as one of the most beautiful in Australia and the city boasts an array of great beaches, surfing, shopping, nightlife and dining. There is shopping to suit all tastes from the bargain hunter treasured markets of Carrara to Broad beach Art and Craft Markets to the boutique stores on Orchid and Elkhorn Avenue and the massive mall shopping. There is an array of Family attractions, such as multi-million dollar theme parks. Wet n' Wild Water Park to Sea world, from movie world to farm parks, it is a fantasia for fantasy.

Stroll from one city beach to the next, from Main beach to broad beach, mermaid beach to Burleigh heads. Brilliant nightlife awaits in the towering beachfront sky rises of Surfers paradise. Dance the night away in the abundance of clubs and bars in Cavill Avenue, Orchid Avenue and Gold Coast Highway. The Gold coast has a vibrant nightlife, helped in earnest by its dedication for having a notable festival event each month. From the Gold coast Marathon which happens in July to Indy 300, the big party event which occurs in October. From eating to flowering festivals, there is something for everyone.

The vibrancy of the city is mellowed by the beautiful varied landscapes, from the valleys to the hills, rural plantations, and vineyards to the World Heritage Rainforest sites of Lamington National Park to Border Ranges National Park. In Lamington National Park, take the O'Reilly Treetop Rainforest Canopy Walk for some high Irish flying. An itinerary must is to check out the varied species of this region from the exciting named flying fox to the masked mountain frog and everything in between. Hike the extensive wilderness in Main Range National Park or the heights of Mount Tambourine and its famous cascades.

Whatever your reason, the gold coast is it, a golden ticket as far as holiday destinations go, the proof being in that 4 million people couldn't possibly be wrong. So when you get a chance and are looking for a sunny, relaxed, funky yet vibrant environment where you can travel to for a holiday to remember then this area of Oz is a must, the Gold Coast City itself often compared to the likes of Miami is a great city to visit.
