If you are keen on the outdoor life, and enjoy camping, boating or other such wonderful pursuits, you may sometimes feel that the only thing lacking from your travels is some reasonable quality sanitation. Many people love to be in the great outdoors, but also loathe having to pop behind a tree when nature calls.
The portable toilet is a great solution to just such a problem, and is available in a wide range of styles, and for all budgets. At their most basic, a toilet seat on a fold up frame with a waste bag attached underneath will get you out of trouble. These are actually fine for most occasions and the waste bag is easily knotted and disposed of.
Heading up the luxury ladder, you can get a camping toilet which is essentially a tall bucket with a toilet seat on top. These also come with a lid so that they can be covered after use. Generally used with water, some do allow for the addition of chemicals for better hygiene.
Next in the list is the flush portable loo, with a separate holding tank for waste products. These are used with water for the flush, and ideally with single ply toilet paper or special toilet paper designed for the purpose. This prevents clogging of the loo.
If you want to spend more, you can get an all singing all dancing portable toilet with flush mechanism and chemical compatible holding tank. These are still small in size and can sit under a chair out of the way. They work very well, but you need to ensure you have a suitable place for disposal. Most camping sites will have facilities for waste disposal and a good cleaning facility.
The use of all of these products can only enhance your camping or travel experience. They can be bout from under $20 for the basic models, up to over $200 for a really good quality one. The choice is yours.
